gIRL IN BOX 2

Project Meridian Foundation’s mission is to rehabilitate the children and young women who are victims of human trafficking through Operation Safe House and to assist in the identification, capture, and prosecution of human traffickers by cooperating with international, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.  Since 2005, Project Meridian Foundation (“PMF”) has assisted with the identification and rescue.  PMF has also helped to identify, capture, and prosecute more than 1,147 human traffickers in the U.S. and globally, with more human traffickers being observed in ongoing investigations with federal, state, and local law enforcement.  Today, with the proliferation of the Internet, pedophiles and other sexual predators are specifically targeting U.S. children and young women at alarming and increasing rates.

Although recent U.S. government funding has focused primarily on prevention through training and awareness, PMF concentrates on the identification, capture, and prosecution of predators, as well as victim protection, medical treatment, and rehabilitation through Operation Safe House.  PMF assists in prosecution of traffickers through a combination of intelligence gathering and other types of law enforcement activities.  Due to the complexity of the trafficking crime syndicates, PMF also performs intelligence gathering in drugs and arms trafficking, which occurs through illegal entry routes into the U.S.

There is currently a deficiency in screening procedures in U.S. government agencies and non-profit organizations to identify human trafficking victims.  PMF helps identify these victims.  Once the first Operation Safe House is built, PMF will take the victims to an undisclosed, secure, remote facility and provide a support system, free from intimidation, begin the healing process and in which they can describe their situation and identify their captors.  While at this facility, victims will be offered food, clothing, shelter, medical care, and counseling.  In addition, for any victims of foreign origin, PMF will process applications for T or U-visas with pro-bono Law Firms.
