Ms. Yevgeniya "Jenny" Begun serves as a board member of the Project Meridian Foundation.
Yevgeniya "Jenny" Begun was born and raised in Kazakhstan, former Soviet Union republic. She moved to the United States with her parents in 1999. Not wanting to be dependant on her father, who was struggling with the new language and low paying jobs to provide for the family, she started working within the first week of their move to their new home country. Learning English as fast as she could at work, she entered Baruch College and, earning Dean’s List honors, graduated in three years with a degree in Accounting and Business Management. During the last semester, Yevgeniya successfully passed the CPA exam. After college, she took a year to travel and lived for seven months in Venezuela, working with children and teaching English. Upon her return to New York, Yevgeniya started her career in public accounting at Weiser LLP, one of the nation's largest accounting and consulting firms, where she rose to senior auditor, in charge of supervising staff members and conducting field audits.
After her successful four year experience in public accounting, Yevgeniya moved to the private sector, expanding her experience in accounting, project and business management. During these years, she also started her own event planning business. This first-hand experience led her to understand the interrelationship of all business functions – planning, goal-setting, budgeting, finance, marketing, sales, human recourses, motivation, decision making, etc.
Currently, Yevgeniya is moving into a new direction, wanting to merge her professional background and her personal passion for art. After receiving an Art Business Certificate from the New York University, she now works with galleries and artists, advising them on personal and business financial management.
Yevgeniya’s love for children and her desire to give back to the community, led her to become a volunteer with the Catholic Big Brother Big Sister non-profit organization. She became a mentor and works closely with program coordinators to organize various events for children where they can get involved in art, meet the artists and visit galleries and private collections.
Yevgeniya lives in New York City; passionate about her family and her work, art and travel.
